Zucco opened its doors in 2022, right in the heart of Pontypridd’s revitalised Mill Street Quarter. Built on the idea of creating a modern community hub, we set out to serve great coffee, fresh juice, and honest food in a space that feels warm, welcoming, and full of life.
From early morning espressos to late-night cocktails, Zucco quickly became a go-to spot for locals and visitors alike – somewhere to pause, connect, and feel at home.
While Zucco itself is new, its roots run deep. Our story is the latest chapter in a proud family tradition of hospitality in Pontypridd, one that spans more than a century. My grandparents ran John & Maria’s restaurant, a landmark in the town for years, and my dad and uncle spent nearly five decades running the much-loved Café Royale.
From a childhood spent stacking plates and soaking up that café culture, to opening Zucco just streets away, this journey feels like a full circle. Zucco exists because of the people who came before—and because Pontypridd still believes in good coffee, good food, and community spirit.
